| June 16, 2007 Newark Public Library 5 Washington St., Newark, NJ co-Sponsored by One Peoples Project & Residents Against Racism The controversy surrounding recent comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team by Don Imus hit at the heart of people in New Jersey, but it has also brings to light something that has not been effectively addressed: Imus' remarks pale in comparison to the actual promotion of hate politics in this country. To that end, One People's Project and Residents Against Racism will be sponsoring the East Coast Anti-Hate Forum, a panel discussion featuring a number of community activists who deal with the issues surrounding race, gender, immigration, and lgbtq rigths. Andreas Jackson the founder of the production company MediaClectic, a producer/host of WBAI's Hip-Hop Takeover Marathon, and a advisor and curator of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center's Planet Hip-Hip Festival. Floyd Cochran, a former white supremacist who now goes across the country fighting racism and hosts an internet radio program called Eye on Hate, and who participated in the 2005 Anti-Racist Convergence in Orange, NJ, will also be on hand to explain to participants how far racism can go.
